The Revolutionary Communists of India, RC(I) condemn the brutal killings of CPI(Maoist) General Secretary N. Kesava Rao (Basava Raju) and other Maoist fighters, as well as innocent Adivasis, in Chhattisgarh by the Modi-Shah regime. These extra-judicial murders, carried out under the guise of “anti-insurgency operations,” expose the true face of the Indian state—a violent enforcer of corporate plunder and state terror.
The Modi government’s so-called “Operation Kagar” is not about restoring peace but about clearing the path for big capitalists—Indian and foreign—to loot the mineral-rich lands of central India. The state is systematically eliminating Maoist leaders and Adivasi resistance to crush any opposition to corporate exploitation.
Despite repeated calls for peace talks from the CPI(Maoist) and appeals from activists, journalists, and progressive forces, the Modi regime has chosen bloodshed over dialogue. The government proudly declares that “there will be no Maoists in India by 2026.” What they really seek is a country where the capitalist state and corporations rule without resistance, where the poor and oppressed have no voice.
While the RC(I) stands firmly against state repression, we also recognise the strategic failures of Maoism. The CPI(Maoist)’s guerrilla warfare tactics, rooted in “peasant revolution” theories, isolate the movement from the urban working class, the only force capable of overthrowing capitalism and transforming society for the betterment of all exploited people. By focusing on rural insurgency alone, Maoists neglect the necessity of a united proletarian struggle across factories, farms, and cities.
This is partly what has left them vulnerable to this latest wave of bloodshed. Instead of building a broad revolutionary movement, the Maoist emphasis on militarism makes it easier for the state to crush them piece by piece.
The RC(I) believes that only linking the struggles of the peasantry with the organised working class, fighting for proletarian democracy, and advancing internationalist socialism can defeat both capitalism and the Modi regime that defends it in India.
We demand:
– An immediate end to Operation Kagar and all state repression in Chhattisgarh!
– A judicial inquiry into the killings of Maoists and Adivasis!
– Repeal of draconian laws like UAPA and AFSPA!
The Modi regime dreams of a Maoist-free India—but the people dream of an India free from capitalist exploitation and state terror. Only revolutionary class struggle, led by the working class and rooted in true Marxist principles, can bring liberation.
